Threadgill's - Austin ../goldfork.htm../goldfork.htm
6416 N Lamar - 512 451-5440
Opened as a Gulf gas station by Kenneth Threadgill in 1933.  He received Travis County beer license #01 that same year. Current proprietor Eddie Wilson now operates an expanded Threadgill’s, which sells it’s frozen vegetables in Texas supermarkets. Appetizers include Fried Green Tomatoes, Nachos, and Fried Chicken Livers.  Entrée highlights are the Meatloaf with Creole Sauce, the “best and biggest” Chicken Fried Steak, Pot Roast, and Fried Mississippi Catfish.  Try the San Antonio Squash, Spinach Casserole, Vegetarian Jambalaya or Garlic Cheese Grit. I highly recommend the Texas Caviar  black-eyed peas, red onions, and peppers marinated in vinaigrette. Threadgill’s is a “must do” while in the Austin area. Second location on West Riverside Drive.
